Research Background and Interests:
I am primarily interested in organizational phenomena linked to the management and use of IT. This includes both managerial aspects of IT, such as executive involvement and decision-making, and the everyday sensemaking and “coping” processes that take place when people use technology. My approach is primarily qualitative.
My main research areas are:
- Governance/behavioral control of IT projects
- Project escalation and de-escala¬tion behaviors and processes
- Dynamics of IT-related change
Theoretically, I am interested in behavioral control theory; theories on organizational decision-making including escalation behaviors; dynamic capabilities and the resource-based view; and theories that allow for rich understanding of organizational change, such as actor-network theory.
Methodologically, I am open to different approaches, although I mostly use qualitative methods such as case studies. I have a strong interest in theory building using process-oriented approaches.
