Research Background and Interests
My research explores how social practices emerge and change with the implementation and use of various new technologies and how these new practices lead to new organizational and field dynamics. I have in particular investigated the knowledge and learning dynamics taking place at different levels (community and network of practices, for instance) through the use of new technology.
I am also fascinated by the new practices related to technologies such as web-logs or social networking applications and investigate how they lead to the spread of new practices. Some of the themes that I find fascinating to investigate with regard to new organizational forms and changes in practices are related to identities and identification, cognition, institutional dynamics and mindfulness.
Methodological Interests
I am open to many research methods. Most of my research is qualitative, relying upon case-based evidence analyzed from an interpretive perspective, but I am also interested in the opportunities and challenges of combining qualitative and quantitative analysis of electronically-collected data.
